Happy Anniversary

Happy 2nd year anniversary to us! It was our second year wedding anniversary yesterday - two years! My my, how time flies! This time two years ago we were sunning ourselves in Mexico! How times change lol. Was at work during the day but in the evening Daniel met me and off we went into Covent Garden, stopping off at Maxwells first for some cocktails. Then to an restarauant called The Italian Kitchen, which was a quaint little italian (der) just off of High Holborn. It was nice. Nice food, and the waiters/waitresses/owners were actually Italian! Then we jumped on a tube and went to stay in the Hyde Park Hotel - which when Daniel booked it was called The Shaftesbury Hotel but had recently been refurbished and was now the Hyde Park Hotel. We spent a little bit of time wandering round the streets looking for it.. But managed to get there in the end! It was nice, the room was nice. It was a good celebration. Thanks to you my lovely man :)

Lift Conversations

We don’t have any lift music at our work (thankfully. Actually - does anyone anymore? I rarely step into a lift that is playing music… interesting) so sometimes it’s a little tense when you step into a lift with strangers because of the quietness. I love “lift conversations”. I popped out the office for something to eat - and as I returned there was a catering delivery man coming into the building and approaching the lift. So I held the doors open for him, and then asked;“which floor would you like?”

“One please.. Sorry, can’t be bothered to walk”

(It’s always annoying when students cram into the lifts - some go to the 1st floor, and others go to the 2nd.. WALK!!)

“I’ll let you off seeing as you are carrying something”..

“Oh, its not heavy, I just can’t be bothered to climb the stairs. I started at 5 this morning am started to flag a bit”

“Understandable!”

First Floor. Out he gets - I hold the doors.

“Thanks”

“Your welcome”

Then off he went, and up I went. Groovy huh? Was trying to remember another lift conversation that I had had before..but couldn’t quite piece it together. Always funny listening to other people’s conversations - as the observer - when there are two other people and they have met before and probably spoken before but don’t really know each other to talk type awkward conversation - you know the kind. OR! When someone is in the lift and makes some random comment about something to anyone else in the lift - Classic! Ahh dear - you may well have to of experienced such things yourself to remotely understand. And I probably lost most of you waaaay back at the start of this. Hmm.

Lord of the Rings and Starbucks

My brother, Nathan, came and met me for lunch - was nice. Nice to see Nathan and nice to have someone meet me for lunch. Haven’t done that in a while. Ever since I lost my lunch buddy Leanne when she moved jobs, how inconsiderate! Tee hee. We went into Covent Garden - with its jolly atmosphere. But then it got too chilly so we popped into Starbucks and both tried their new and improved Caramel Hot Chocolate. I ordered mine extra hot - is always best that way because otherwise is just warm and it tastes gross. The new and improved caramel hot chocolate was rank. We were both grimacing as we were drinking - though of course endured the whole thing as it cost so much! (Who could drink the most!) Won’t be ordering that again. Should have gone for the hazelnut hot chocolate - may well have tasted like Hot Nutella - mmmm. When it was time for me to return to the dull office - so very dull today - we passed the Theatre Royal, which is currently showing The Producers, but today was the beginning of auditions for The Lord of the Rings musical. We were pointing out people who we thought could well be hobbits - and were tempted to ask them if they had hairy feet. LOL. There was a huge line of people ready and waiting to audition..(well someone’s got to do it). Anyway going back a step, The Lord of the Rings musical I hear you groan - that’s exactly what we thought!! Apparently it’s been a hit in America (isn’t everything??) but was closed in Canada. Not sure I will be in line to see that one!

Free Newspaper

Suddenly there seems to be some competitiveness between distributors of free newspapers. In the morning you can grab a ‘Metro’ (I say the morning as they are usually all gone once you are back in the station in the evening and the stands only tend to be replenished in the morning. Probably upon the basis that the people who make their way through the stations in the morning are the same group that do so in the evening). If you wander around at “lunchtime” near where I work, the Evening Standard dude is there waving an ‘Evening Standard Lite’ - which is a free ‘lite’ version of the Evening paper that you can buy. On Monday evening, and yesterday evening - no doubt they will be there again this evening - there were people filtering the streets on my walk from the Aldwych to Charing Cross Station handing out free newspapers. It took me the a coupld of times to actually realise what they were shouting out! Turns out there is now available the ‘London Lite’ and ‘The London Paper.’ Going by the articles displayed on the front pages they are both equally as trashy as each other. I’m not sure I understand why there would be such an interest in giving people free newspapers, if there is no charge - how do they make any money? Interesting.

Eye Twitch

Just came out of our company meeting (yawn) and my eye was twitching throughout the whole thing - and it still is. Apparently the cause of minor eyelid twitching is unknown. A slight spasm of the lower eyelid or even both eyelids is common and of no concern. Not much I can do about it then - I feel a little bit self-conscious about it though. I hope it leaves.
